Thanks for your experience. Did not have any issue installing CentOS last time i did it (on CentOS7).
Can't Update after installing from centos
No import mail references into documentation
Sorry for buggin’ development tag, but there’s no documentation about importing email and/or folders into email section
http://docs.nethserver.org/en/v7/mail.html
There’s some info about importing data into Webtop section
http://docs.nethserver.org/en/v7/webtop5.html#importing-from-outlook-pst
but maybe some experience/hints could ease some issues like this one
(reporting, for example that the subscribeall option of imapsync could ease some issues into webmail)…
Building Cockpit together
Removing modules (and packages), compatibility with NethGUI
My test server was installed with NethGUI, then it was updated and I installed several packages (and modules) from NethGUI. Now also Cockpit is present.
But…
- not all NethGUI packages are shown into “Applications”.
- there’s quite differences between NethGUI software center and Cockpit software center (for instance, i cannot see what modules i already installed)
- some packages seems needed (dependencies) for installing other (for instance, email seems to have dependencies likes rSpamd, nethserver-mail-filter, nethserver-mail-getmail)
- for remove packages i must access to Application section because Software Center cannot be used
Just trying to point out the situation, that’s not a complain.
IMHO, at least from Software Center I should be able to:
- understand what’s installed on the server
- remove unwanted packages

Problems with port forwarding
NethServer Version: 7.6.1810
Module: Port Forwarding
Hi to everybody,
Recently I have installed fresh NS7.6.1810 as a router, updated it, installed Basic Firewall and OpenVPN and now I am trying to setup port forwarding (I have done it allready on my main router so it should go easy).
So I went to port forwarding and done it like this:
Protocol: TCP
WAN IP (red interface): I have choosed by IP
Origin port: 8099
Destination port: 80
Destination host: some_host_with_www
Allow only from: empty
Description: my www srv inside lan
SUBMIT and… this port is not forwarded…
I must sadly say that I am fighting with this for a while and even installed on separate hardrive other distro(debian based) and the port forwarding is working… (why???)
So my question is does anybody has any clues what to check ?
Thanks in advance

I’m sorry, I cannot understand what you’re trying to say.
Could you please elaborate a bit more?
Upcoming NethServer 7.7.1908 release
first test on a almost clean (only nethserver-dante installed) 7.6 VM
it seems all OK, i have only two error/information, both seems that can be ignored
Building Cockpit together
Both functions are implemented in the Applications page.
Roles are
- software center to add/update/upgrade,
- applications to run/remove …but remove is a very secondary function

Can't install file-server on fresh install
I’m happy you found a solution!
Locked/unlocked: I understand it is possible if the system is freshly installed from iso or it wasn’t updated since February at least.
We probably introduced some changes that aren’t backward-compatible with past system settings now that upstream has released 7.7.
Luckily a new ISO is soon to come and the new installation case will be fixed with it.
Fail2ban (again !) not catching some asterisk log strings
please install directly the testing package from GH, you can pick up the link from X86_64
yum install http://packages.nethserver.org/nethserver/7.7.1908/testing/x86_64/Packages/nethserver-fail2ban-1.1.10-1.6.g7771945.ns7.noarch.rpm
Mail client within nethserver
I’d use localhost both for IMAP and SMTP, SSL/TLS (so 993 and 465) for connection.
And i’d login with the full email address for both setup. using the primary domain of NethServer.
I am assuming that NextCloud and email are on the same server, and these are only my ideas.

Maybe your CPU is still Spectre/Meltdown vulnerable?
Mail client within nethserver
I think you may be having the same problem as me. I recently asked here No Nethserver email via Nextcloud but have had no luck getting it to work.
I haven’t found anyone here who uses the Nextcloud email.
I did post an error from my logs but haven’t been able to work out how to fix it.
[mail] Fatal: Updating account failed: Server denied authentication. PUT /nextcloud/index.php/apps/mail/api/accounts/3 from *[public IP address]* by *[MAC address?]* at 2019-09-17T07:28:12+00:00
Let me know if you get it working!
Fail2ban (again !) not catching some asterisk log strings
Yep, working !

Contacts hosted outside of domain
Have found the answer to this myself, set the client smtp to the web mail server rather than the internal nethserver mail server and the issue never occurs.
This is probably worth doing anyway to reduce the risk of blacklisting.
Import mail references into documentation
There is not documentation because it’s not strictly related to NS, but more generally to an IMAP server.
But I agree that some documentation could be useful! Anyone willing to open a PR?
IMO, this is not a bug, I’d move this discussion under “Feature” section (@davidep).
Building Cockpit together
This is a design choice: modules not shown in Cockpit should be considered almost deprecated.
We are updating the doc, but it takes some time: https://github.com/NethServer/docs/pull/446
Optional packages are now installed by default from Software Center. If a packages has not been installed, each application should detect it a display a button to add the missing package.
CentOS 8 released
I am surprised nobody mentioned (noticed??? ) the release of CentOS 8 on tuesday 24th 2019.
Time for working towards the next major release of NethServer? (I know it’s in the works…)
https://blog.centos.org/2019/09/centos-8-and-centos-stream-released/
/edit: I see that @dz00te mentioned this yesterday: RHEL 8 released / Centos 8 Status page
Anyway, I think this major event deserves a separate topic…
Who need a little joke today?
Can we do just 1 political joke? (sorry this one is just too funny)
