Proxmox HA chat

@danb35

Sounds impressive! Are they now “clustered”?

And what are you running there, if i may ask?

Andy

Yes, it’s now a three-node cluster. The third node is really superfluous, as the first two would be enough to run what I’m using, but I have four nodes in a Dell C6100, so…

I’m running a variety of things, mostly “test” systems. My neth dev and test systems are there, a FreeNAS test system is on there, my bitwarden server, my PBX, my Zabbix server, TrueCommand, MeshCentral, a local Discourse instance, a CentOS 7 system with Asigra client (the folks at iXSystems were really pimping that plugin, so I was trying to figure out how to make it work), etc. If I hear of software that sounds interesting, I spin up a VM and play with it–and now that I’ve figured out how to use templates in Proxmox, that’s easier than ever.

@danb35

Proxmox with templates & linux containers are really cool and fast. Spinning up a VM with vanilla debian, centos or ubuntu is a matter of 1-2 minutes or even less!

One of my Proxmox is dedicated to such testing…
Soon a second.

My 2 cents
Andy

PS:
In IT “one too many” is usually preferable to “one too little” (Think eg Backups).
The only exception to this is “problems”, everyone prefers less!

Hi

Why not point them to NextCloud CalDAV?
(After exporting and reimporting the data…)

NextCloud’s CalDAV implementation is very solid, I’m using it for years on several sites. Heck, my Home Automation even grabs my next 5 appointments and the next 10 public holidays and displays the info in my Home Automation instance…

To be completely “groupware independant” with an own calendar server but you are absolutely right. Using one of the groupware servers may work too and is less effort.

@mrmarkuz

This would need serious testing, but from my own experience with Nextcloud’s CalDAV implementation, I’m inclined to say it works…

@ns_nirosh

For IOS…

I’m using OPNsense firewall, but i think you can export the config - per user - from the interface…

Here’s from the docu on my firewall:

Import the hostname-udp-1194-ios-config.ovpn file into OpenVPN Connect. Clicking the file should be enough to get it imported. When asked for an application to open the file with, select OpenVPN Connect.

From here:

Nicely done! Installation is working great. :+1: :+1: :beers:

A few notes:

  • Installation of external module is not possible from the web interface for the following reason: Failed to write in directory //usr/share/dolibarr/htdocs/custom

  • Fileset integrity checks are not working (upstream issue).

  • krbtgt (kerberos user), ldapservice and Guest listed as dolibarr users. Maybe not an issue.

  • Some modules URLs are referring to 127.0.0.1. Do not recall if this is by design (URL examples) or if in other versions URLs pointed to the server FQDN or IP:

    • Admin tools > Scheduled jobs (URL: /dolibarr/cron/list.php?leftmenu=admintools&idmenu=25): URL to check and launch qualified cron jobs
    • Tickets module (/dolibarr/admin/ticket_public.php), URL shows 127.0.0.1 but it really points to the FQDN: A public interface requiring no identification is available at the following url : https://127.0.0.1/dolibarr/public/ticket/index.php
  • newly created AD users instantly available on dolibarr: OK

Moodle with git and postgres

What do you think about using git for managing updates in the Moodle module?

https://docs.moodle.org/38/en/Git_for_Administrators

This way we are very flexible and could just say I want to update to version 3.x, put it to a db prop, signal-event and ready. (maybe one day choose it in a cockpit dropdown) I have to test downgrades but it may work too.
But we could have more problems as updates are not controlled anymore.

Another point is: I tend to use postgresql instead of mysql for moodle.

From the moodle docs:

If you run your Moodle site with MySQL database backend and use the default MyISAM as the storage engine for your tables, you may want to convert them to use some more reliable engine like InnoDB (actually, you should want to switch to PostgreSQL :wink: anyway).

Select the 3 dots on the right of the user who needs access. Select Download to extract the OpenVPN client file which you then import to the mobile device.

No updates mail and errors in software center

Not sure if this is down to the timings of my subscription ending (because no warnings were given) and the renewal, but I am no longer getting the daily mail letting me know what updates are waiting. Also, trying to use the Software Center elicits this:

failure: repodata/repomd.xml from sb-base: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try. https://u2.nethserver.com/stable/7.7.1908/base/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTPS Error 403 - Forbidden https://u3.nethserver.com/stable/7.7.1908/base/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTPS Error 403 - Forbidden

The install/update may have failed due to metadata caching issues. Please clean the cache by clicking the button below and retry the install/update operation.

Hitting the button to clear the cache responds with an identical message.

Cheers.

You’re still getting that error after renewing your subscription? Then I’m not sure. That’s the error I got when mine expired (about a week ago IIRC), but as soon as I renewed, I was able to run yum upgrade without errors.

Yep. The errors were from about an hour ago:

Don’t know if it should work, but can you access the repo URLS from a browser providing your subscription credentials?
